Planning for your surgery
AirTran, Delta and Delta Connection have convenient daily flights from Raleigh-Durham International Airport to Hartsville-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Our office is accessible by rental car or taxi (140 Vann Street, Suite 350, Marietta, Georgia 30060, Phone: 770-574-4868). If you would rather drive, our office in northwest Atlanta is about 400 miles south of Raleigh via major interstates.

When planning your bariatric surgery, Raleigh patients should anticipate a one-week stay. On Monday before your procedure, you will come to our office to review the pre-operative process with our bariatric nurse. Next, you will meet with Dr. Champion for an evaluation. Then, go to Northside Hospital for pre-op testing.

Most surgeries occur on Tuesday or Wednesday. LapBand® patients typically stay in the hospital for 23 hours while gastric bypass patients generally require 23 hours, although hospitalization time may vary.

After gastric bypass or LapBand® surgery, Raleigh patients should avoid travel for 72 hours.
